Earthquake hits California-Mexico border

CALEXICO, Calif., April 1 (UPI) -- The California-Mexico border area was hit by a 3.2-magnitude earthquake about 16 miles from Calexico, Calif., geologists said.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake rumbled Thursday night in an area of known for its high earthquake activity, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

On April 4, 2010, the border region was struck by a magnitude-7.2 earthquake that was felt in downtown Los Angeles and strong enough to shift the Earth's crust up to 10 feet in Mexico.
