1 dead in Miss. school bus crash

CLEVELAND, Miss., April 1 (UPI) -- A school bus collided with a tractor-trailer rig in Mississippi Friday, killing one child and injuring several others, authorities said.

The Bolivar Commercial reported Taliyah McRoy, 10, of Choctaw died in the 7 a.m. accident at the intersection of state Highway 450 and U.S. Highway 61 in Bolivar County.

Both vehicles flipped over on impact, the newspaper said.

Wes Sigler, chief executive officer of Bolivar Medical Center, confirmed the one child died at the accident scene, and said six patients were taken to Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, two were sent to North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville, one went to The Med in Memphis and one was transferred to University Medical Center in Jackson.

The driver of the Southeast Gravel Co. truck was taken to Geenville along with five of the children, who were reported in stable condition, the newspaper said. The condition of the Shaw School District bus driver was not known.
