HUGO, Colo., March 31 (UPI) -- Colorado police say two people were found dead in a home when officers arrived to inform them a 16-year-old boy had crashed their truck a few miles away.

Sheriff's deputies discovered the bodies of a man and a woman in a downstairs bedroom of the home near Hugo when they attempted to notify the couple about the Wednesday accident involving the teenager, who was a relative and a resident of the home, The Denver Post reported.

Early that morning the Colorado State Patrol was called to a wreck involving a Ford pickup, and officers found the teenager pinned in the wreckage about 3 miles from the home.

A large amount of cash was reportedly found in the wreckage.

The teen, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to a hospital in Denver with injuries police described as not life-threatening.

The truck was traced to the home where the man and the woman were found dead.

Authorities have released no details about their deaths.

"We're still in the very early stages of this investigation," Colorado Bureau of Investigation division director Steve Johnson said.

Authorities have not released the couple's names but a woman who answered the phone at the home of their 63-year-old son, Chris Solze, confirmed that the couple are Charles Clagett, 80, and his wife, Laura, 82, the Post said.
