Women charged in Walmart greeter assault

ELYRIA, Ohio, March 29 (UPI) -- Two Ohio women were arrested after allegedly choking a Walmart greeter and making bomb threats against the store, police said.

Ashley Jackson, 21, and Toni Duncan, 49, both of Elyria, allegedly assaulted the 71-year-old greeter after he asked to see their receipt, which they did not have, police said.

Police said the women became angry after not receiving help at the customer service desk and attempted to leave the store when the greeter asked them for a receipt, The Chronicle-Telegram of Elyria reported Tuesday.

Both women yelled obscenities at him while Duncan pushed a shopping cart into the man, began choking him and threatened to punch him in the face, authorities said.

Another Walmart employee intervened to protect the man, a police report said.

Jackson reportedly went back to the customer service desk and cursed at the attendant, threatening to punch her in the face then yelled three times she would "blow up" Walmart, alarming nearby customers, police said.

The two women were arrested and Duncan was charged with assault and Jackson was charged with inducing panic and aggravated menacing.

Because Jackson was pregnant and the women had two small children with them, they were released on a court summons instead of being booked into jail, police said.
