DETROIT, March 25 (UPI) -- The owner of Detroit's Michigan Central Train Depot said the roof and windows may be replaced at the 19-story building.
Manuel "Matty" Moroun, who owns the depot and the Ambassador Bridge, said through his company the 98-year-old building will receive the repairs as part of an effort to attract developers, The Detroit News reported Friday.
"We're applying with the city to replace the roof and the windows," said Dan Stamper, president of Moroun's company. "We're doing it because it would be much easier to help a developer to come up with a package to use the depot if some improvements were made … so that's what we're doing."
A spokesman for Mayor Dave Bing said the city has had preliminary talks with the company about the project.
The building has been featured in films including "Eight Mile," "Transformers," "The Island" and "Four Bothers."
