California man arrested in sword attack

RIVERSIDE, Calif., March 24 (UPI) -- Police in Hemet, Calif., arrested a man after neighbors saw him chasing his father-in-law through the neighborhood with a katana samurai sword.

Zen Timothy Singleton, 20, was being held at the Southwest Detention Center, where bail was set at $1.02 million, The (Riverside) Press-Enterprise reported Wednesday. Singleton's 50-year-old father-in-law was slashed through his thigh above the knee, and his brother-in-law suffered a 6-inch gash across his forehead from a piece of glass. Both were hospitalized. Singleton also broke several windows with the sword, Lt. Mark Richards said.
