AKRON, Ohio, March 18 (UPI) -- A United Airlines plane carrying 42 passengers slid off the end of a runway at the Akron-Canton Airport in Ohio and got stuck in mud, officials said.

No one was injured after the plane slid off the dry runway in Summit County early Friday, WJW-TV of Akron reported.

The flight originated in Chicago.

Special equipment was being sent to the airport to help extricate the plane.

Sgt. Lee Hoskins of the Summit County Sheriff's Office said a fire department assisted in helping passengers safely evacuate the aircraft.

No flights were delayed as a result of the accident.

The airport notified the National Transportation Safety Board.
