WASHINGTON, March 11 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, denied Friday reports he has been talking to MSNBC host Joe Scarborough about a potential Senate run in Florida.

Cornyn, head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, used his Twitter account Friday to say a story in The Hill "is wrong" in suggesting he spoke to Scarborough about a potential 2012 run against Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., saying he instead spoke to the MSNBC host and former member of the U.S. House of Representatives about a potential Senate run in New York, The Hill reported.

The Hill said Cornyn was specifically asked about the race against Nelson in Florida and New York was not mentioned during the interview.

The newspaper quoted Cornyn as saying he had talked to Scarborough, host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," twice about a potential 2012 Senate bid and he would "be delighted to talk to him a third time."
