Informant says missing boy was shot

DURHAM, N.C., March 8 (UPI) -- A 6-year-old North Carolina boy missing since October was shot in a fit of rage by the leader of a polygamous cult, an informant said.

The informant, who used to belong to the group Black Hebrews, told police group leader Peter Moses took Jadon Higganbothan to the basement of a house in Durham and shot him, ABC News reported Tuesday.

He said he heard the sound of gunfire and Jadon was never seen again.

The boy's mother, Vania Sisk, told Durham police she last saw her son on Feb. 20 when she gave him to an acquaintance.

Sisk is a suspect in the disappearance of another member of the cult, Antoinetta McKoy who has been missing since December, a search warrant revealed.

Neither Moses nor Sisk has been charged with any crime related to the disappearance of Higganbothan or McKoy, police said.

Moses and his followers moved to Colorado last month after Durham police began investigating them.

Police in Colorado removed nine children from the group's home and placed them with social services before cult members left the state and reportedly returned to North Carolina.
