Police also found the car that belonged to Dobson's assistant, Judy Elliott, who was injured in the Thursday attack. She was recovering in stable condition at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Dobson, 28, was found dead Thursday afternoon inside the church in the 2000 block of Brown Boulevard. Police have not said how he was killed.

Police spokeswoman Tiara Richard said robbery likely was the motive in the slaying.

"We've received lots of tips from the public," Richard said without providing more detail on how police were led to Nelson's apartment. "The public outcry and information that has come in on this case has been helpful."
