Florida lake drained in hunt for remains

APOKA, Fla., Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Florida authorities are draining a lake in hopes of finding the remains of a man who has been missing for two years.

The operation at Lake Carter in Apopka went on into Wednesday morning after a detective found a bone in reeds Monday, the Orlando Sentinel reported. An Orange-Osceola County medical examiner confirmed it was human Tuesday.

Onda "Chris" George was last seen with James Hataway and Tyler Watters on Feb. 11, 2009. His car was found abandoned in the woods near Lake Carter. The next day, Hataway was found at the scene and told police he was searching for George.

Apopka police recently told the Sentinel Hataway and Watters are "persons of interest" in the disappearance.

Police have searched the area repeatedly in the past without success.

On May 27, 2009, Tracy Ocasio disappeared after leaving an Orlando bar with Hataway. Her car was found near his home.

Hataway is in the Seminole County Jail on unrelated charges of attempted first-degree murder, burglary with battery, robbery and aggravated battery. The trial in that case is to start Monday.
