Trial for accused piglet-killer delayed

PORTSMOUTH, Va., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- The case of a Portsmouth, Va., woman charged with lopping off a piglet's head and stabbing another was delayed until March.

Ashley Marie Fowler, free $12,500 bond, faces charges of felony killing-maiming of livestock, vandalism and felony possession of adderall, an amphetamine used to treat attention deficit disorder, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported Monday.

The piglets belonged to the son of Janie Sawyer, who found the decapitated pig's head on her porch and the stabbed pig in her barn, the newspaper said. The stabbed pig had to be euthanized.

A reason for Fowler's alleged actions was not given.

Fowler also is accused of slashing the tires on the pickup belonging to Sawyer's son.
