WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Planned Parenthood has announced plans to retrain employees in state laws regarding reporting suspected abuse of minors.
The agency was recently targeted by an anti-abortion activist who made videotapes featuring a man posing as a pimp seeking advice on getting abortions for underage prostitutes.
Stuart Schear, vice president for communications, said the retraining would ensure employees are familiar with the laws in the states where they work, The New York Times reported. In a statement, Planned Parenthood said the retraining will be finished by April and after that any employees found to have violated local reporting laws will be fired.
"Live Action's investigation has uncovered a serious, institutional crisis in which Planned Parenthood is willing to aid and abet sex trafficking and exploitation of minors and young women," said Lila Rose, president of Live Action, the group responsible for the videotapes.
Planned Parenthood reported the visits that resulted in the surreptitious videotapes to local and federal law enforcement.
