PHOENIX, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- An Arizona bill requiring presidential candidates to show birth certificates that failed to gain traction last year has been reintroduced.

The measure sponsored by state Rep. Judy Burges would also require candidates to swear that they have not held citizenship in any other country and that their "sole allegiance is to the United States of America," Fox News reported. They would also have to produce a sworn list of every place they have lived in the 14 previous years.

A similar bill failed to pass last year. Burges, a Republican, reintroduced it this week.

The "birther" movement insists President Obama was born in Kenya and the certificate showing he was born in Honolulu is a forgery or that he has not proved his citizenship. Some also argue that even if he was born in Hawaii he does not meet the constitutional requirement to be a "natural-born citizen" because his father was from Kenya and never became a U.S. citizen.

Burges has 30 co-sponsors for the bill, Fox said.
