Missing Ga. girl, 13, found alive

COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- A missing 13-year-old Georgia girl was found alive Sunday in Alabama and a young man with her was taken into custody, authorities said.

Columbus, Ga., Police Lt. Ronald Hastings said Fabiola Morales of Columbus was found about 4 a.m. Sunday in Jasper, Ala., and the Columbus man suspected of running off with her, Luis Garcia, 18, was being held by the Walker County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported.

Edna Morales, the girl's mother, told the newspaper by phone Sunday night her daughter was fine.

CNN reported earlier the Georgia Bureau of Investigation had issued an Amber Alert Saturday for the teenage girl, who had been missing since Thursday. At the time, police said they believed she was in "extreme danger" and it was unclear whether Garcia was her boyfriend.
