Saffran is being held at the Broward County Jail. Detectives have not released the victim's name, pending family notification.

"We do know who our victim is and we do know who our suspect is," Sgt. Frank Sousa said. "And now we have time. We have time on our side to do what our investigators do best."

He said Saffran and the victim were acquainted but did not give a motive.

A homeowner in Fort Lauderdale found a concrete box containing body parts Nov. 6. On Nov. 14, an auto store employee found a human head in a bucket along a Dania Beach canal. Two fishermen found body parts Nov. 26 in a container near a canal in Northwest Miami-Dade County.

Investigators searched Saffran's home for evidence Tuesday and removed two shovels and a Jeep.
