MILWAUKEE, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Beef sticks that may contain foreign materials are being recalled, the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced.

The approximately 2,740 pounds of products subject to recall are 8-ounce packages of "Market Pantry Beef Sticks, Original," made by Klement Sausage Co. of Milwaukee.

Each package is vacuum-packed and has a "Use By" date of March 1, 2012. The packages have the establishment number 2426B inside the USDA mark of inspection and indicate "Refrigerate After Opening" on the label. Each shipping carton weighs 10 pounds and bears the code 03293.

The beef sticks were produced Aug. 31, packaged Sept. 1, and shipped to distribution centers and stores nationwide.

The problem was discovered after complaints of hard plastic and/or pieces of glass in the product. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers with questions about the recall should call Klement's vice president of special projects, Jeffrey Klement, at (414) 744-2330.
