Four die in crash of Georgia church van

BLAKELY, Ga., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- A church van en route to a revival meeting crashed in southwest Georgia, killing four people and injuring 15, state troopers said Monday.

A group from Tabernacle of Prayer and Deliverance in Columbus, Ga., was traveling to Quincy, Fla., Sunday night when a back tire blew out on Highway 27 near Blakely, turning the van over and ejecting most of the passengers, troopers told WALB-TV in Albany, Ga.

The church's pastor, Apostle Ron Williams, 35, was among the dead.

The 15 survivors, some gravely injured, were taken to hospitals around Miller and Early counties.

"Apparently the right rear tire failed, causing the driver to lose control, cross a median, and overturn," said Trooper Jeromy Roberts of the Georgia State Patrol.

"We had small children to senior adults inside," Roberts said.

The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision and Construction Team is investigating.
