Man gets 25 years for sex trafficking

HONOLULU, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A Honolulu man was sentenced to 25 years in a U.S. prison Friday for turning two adult women and two juveniles into sex slaves.

Rodney King, 44, must be under supervision for the rest of his life once he is released, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release.

King pleaded guilty in May. He admitted he forced the women and juveniles into prostitution and that he attempted to do so with a third woman.

"This sentence sends a strong message that this type of predatory crime that targets young and vulnerable victims is unacceptable, and we will continue to vigorously prosecute sex trafficking cases," said Florence T. Nakakuni, U.S. Attorney for the District of Hawaii.

A co-defendant, Florence Mae Nishimura, 31, was sentenced in August to 100 months in prison. Nishimura, who pleaded guilty last year, admitted charges involving one adult and one minor.
