UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Mutual trust is the key to further development of China-U.S. relations, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao told former U.S. President Bill Clinton in New York.

Wen, in New York for a United Nations summit, said Thursday increased dialogue and broader cooperation would improve ties between the two countries, expressing hope that Clinton could play a role in promoting China-U.S. relations, China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

Clinton said the next decade would be important for U.S.-China relations, and the two countries should work to strengthen cooperation, which he said would help the international community regain and build confidence.
