TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 12 (UPI) -- A member of the hip-hop act Silver Medallion was killed in a crash while on tour in Arizona Saturday, police said.
Emcee Abay Lattin, 25, whose stage name was Carnegie, died in the 3:15 a.m. collision, Tempe police told The Arizona Republic.
Lattin and his driver had just left the Del Taco restaurant and were eastbound on University Drive when an SUV exiting The Quadrangles apartment complex collided with Lattin's car, police said. A motorcyclist then crashed into the wreckage.
Lattin, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said, while the drivers and SUV passenger were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the driver of the SUV is under investigation for DUI.
Lattin was half of the duo Silver Medallion, which began in Scottsdale but had recently moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., said Lattin's partner Oren J. Schauble, stage name Oren J.
Silver Medallion's Saturday concert was canceled, but a concert Sunday at Scottsdale's Martini Ranch will be turned into a tribute, Schauble said.
