PHOENIX, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Two babies were killed Saturday in a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Phoenix, authorities said.

Police said the fatalities occurred when one car slowed to look at a fender-bender and a tractor-trailer rig driver lost control and plowed into two other vehicles, azfamily.com reported.

The infants, one a 13-month-old girl and the other a 3-week-old boy, were rushed to a hospital in critical condition but were pronounced dead soon after, the news Web site said

Two adults hurt in the crash were in serious condition.
