NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- The family of a 104-year-old heiress who has spent much of her life in seclusion has asked a New York court to bar her lawyer and accountant from her affairs.
Carla Hall Friedman, Ian Devine and Karine McCall said one of them should be appointed guardian to their aunt, Huguette Clark, the New York Post reported. They said Clark is likely to be abused by her lawyer, Wallace Bock, and Irving Kamsler, her accountant.
The Manhattan district attorney is investigating Bock's and Kamsler's handling of Clark's estate.
"It appears that the advisers are improperly controlling Ms. Clark's affairs and limiting access to Ms. Clark," Devine, Friedman and McCall said.
Clark has spent the last two decades in hospitals and assisted living facilities. She owns a large apartment on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and estates in Connecticut and California, but caretakers have reportedly said they have not seen her for years.
Clark's father, William Andrews Clark, made millions of dollars in copper mining and represented Montana in the U.S. Senate for one term. Her father was 67 when she was born and died when she was 18.
Her brief marriage to a law student ended in divorce.
