REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Republican candidate for California governor Meg Whitman likely will be dismissed this week from jury duty in the trial of an accused child molester.
Whitman, the former eBay chief executive officer running for governor against state Attorney General Jerry Brown, reported for jury duty Monday at the Hall of Justice and Records in Redwood City, the San Jose Mercury News reported.
The case at hand involves a British citizen, 43-year-old Tarquin Craig Thomas, who is accused of molesting three boys. The trial is expected to last about a month, Assistant District Attorney Karen Guidotti told the newspaper.
Given her obligations to her campaign, observers expect Whitman to be dismissed from jury duty Wednesday or Thursday.
