EDWARDSVILLE, Ill., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- An Illinois man charged with beating his daughter so severely he broke ribs posted a Facebook comment a week earlier saying he was "in prison" with the baby.
Josh D. Troeckler, 35, of Edwardsville, Ill., was commenting on his status as "Mr. Mom," the Belleville News-Democrat reported.
Troeckler was arrested Monday in Missouri. He was being held pending extradition proceedings.
Police in Edwardsville began an investigation last week after Troeckler's 3-month-old daughter Leliana was brought to St. Louis Children's Hospital on Aug. 23. Police said the girl, who was released from the hospital Friday, had broken ribs and damage to her skull.
The newspaper said Troeckler posted a comment about the baby Aug. 16 on his Facebook page: "Well today is the first day as Mister Mom. Wife went back to work today and I am in prison with the baby LOL. Who will survive?"
Edwardsville Police Chief James Bedell said he could not comment on the Facebook entry or whether investigators knew of it.
