BARTOW, Fla., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- A judge refused bail Tuesday for a Florida man accused of killing his father by throwing gasoline at him and setting him on fire with a lighter.

Ronald W. Harris Jr., 37, of Davenport is charged with first-degree murder and arson, The Ledger of Lakeland, Fla., reported.

His 58-year-old father died about 6 p.m. Monday, hours after he was severely burned, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Investigators said Ronald W. Harris Sr., who owned the house where his son was living, had come to Florida from Maryland to empty a storage locker. A report by sheriff's deputies said the two men got into an argument over "material things."

The son admitted his actions, saying he wanted "to blow the house up," the report said. But he allegedly told deputies he should have used a gun.

"The suspect stated he got tired of the victim wearing him down and being verbally abusive," deputies said in their report.

Neighbors found the elder Harris in the yard, his face peeling.

"My son did this to me," he allegedly said.
