Soccer coach gets 50 years for child porn

CHICAGO, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- An Illinois paramedic and soccer coach was sentenced to 50 years in prison for making child pornography after a judge found evidence he molested boys.

Timothy Scholtes must be impeded from harming more children, U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman said Tuesday. At least one of the six boys he allegedly molested appeared in pornographic images.

Scholtes, 46, of Coal City, Ill., was arrested in 2009. When he pleaded guilty in October to making and receiving child pornography, he denied sexual assaults on any boys.

Gettleman gave Scholtes the maximum term of 30 years for manufacturing child pornography and 10 years each for two counts of possession, ordering the sentences to be served consecutively, the U.S. Justice Department said in a release.

"You pronounced a life sentence on these kids," the judge said.

The investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement began when the parents of one boy Scholtes coached told local police their son would no longer accept rides to or from practice with him. The boy reportedly told his parents Scholtes had made a sexual advance.
