Aide: Rand Paul never said he had B.A.

LEXINGTON, Ky., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- A consultant to Rand Paul, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Kentucky, said the campaign was not aware of reports describing Paul as a college graduate.

Paul, who holds an M.D. degree, left Baylor University in Texas without graduating when he was accepted at Duke University Medical School. Consultant Doug Stafford told the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader this week Paul has never claimed to be a Baylor graduate and his campaign Web site says he attended the university.

"I guess many people and some in the media have assumed Dr. Paul had a bachelor's degree, but he has never said that," Stafford said.

Stafford said the campaign did not try to correct erroneous information in the news media and on some Web sites that Paul had a degree from Baylor, because Paul's staff was not aware of the mistaken information.
