Caroline Giuliani, a Harvard senior, was accused of stealing $150 worth of cosmetics from a New York City beauty store, the New York Daily News reported Friday.
The store declined to press charges but police decided to turn the matter over to the district attorney, the New York Post said.
Giuliani was removed from the store in handcuffs Wednesday and taken to a precinct house, where she was given a desk-appearance ticket requiring her to return to court on Aug. 31, the Daily News said.
"This is a personal matter and Mayor Giuliani asks the media to respect the privacy of his daughter at this time," a spokeswoman for the former mayor said.
Giuliani is divorced from his daughter's mother.
