LITTLEROCK, Calif., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Police say they have arrested a teenage boy in connection with the stabbing death of an 11-year-old girl at a home in Littlerock, Calif.
A 14-year-old girl was also wounded and hospitalized in critical condition after the 7:40 a.m. Tuesday attack at the home near Palmdale in the Antelope Valley, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide Lt. Pat Nelson said deputies responding to the scene immediately set up a perimeter and found the alleged assailant.
"He was found hiding in a nearby backyard," Nelson said. "He is a juvenile male age 16 (or) 17 and the only suspect in this incident."
Detectives are investigating the motive behind the attack, the Times reported.
"There is some indication he is related in some way" to the victims, Nelson said of the suspect.
