BEIJING, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Top cybersecurity analysts gathered in Beijing Wednesday for a two-day conference focusing on improving Internet security, a Chinese security society says.
The 300 participants at the conference include experts from the United States, Japan and Australia, China Daily reported.
Conference organizers said analysts from IT giant Microsoft has been invited to attend.
The conference was initiated by XFOCUS, a Chinese information security society.
Security analysts said the XFOCUS meeting has drawn wide attention partly because China has become the country with the biggest Internet population.
As a result, China is subject to frequent cyberattacks, the newspaper said.
Chief Executive Officer Fang Xing of information technology cooperative Vulnhuntonone said conference members don't want to be confused with "black hat" hackers who attack systems.
"Although many people call us hackers, we actually are the 'white hats' who have conducted deep research on hackers' technologies to help enterprises and users defend themselves against hackers," Fang said.
