PORTLAND, Ore., July 28 (UPI) -- The mother of a missing Oregon boy says his stepmother sent her several e-mails the day Kyron Horman was last seen.
Desiree Young told The Portland Oregonian she was used to getting messages she received from Terri Horman but the ones she got June 4 were short and mostly one-sentence. Usually, she said, Horman's e-mails were long.
"One-sentence e-mails she'd shoot off to me," Young said Tuesday. "She e-mailed me three of four times that day, which is kind of strange."
Kyron, who lived in Portland with his father and stepmother, vanished after Terri Horman drove him to a science fair at a school on the outskirts of Multnomah County. While his stepmother has not been named as a suspect, his mother, now married to a police officer in Medford, Ore., and his father, Kaine, have made their suspicions clear.
Kaine Horman has split up with his wife and become a single parent to their 20-month-old daughter. He acknowledged Monday on "Dateline NBC" that he was involved with Terri while his first wife was pregnant with Kyron.
