Ariz. police officer killed, 2 wounded

PHOENIX, July 28 (UPI) -- A Chandler, Ariz., police officer was shot and killed and two officers were wounded during an undercover drug operation Wednesday, authorities said.

The shooting occurred Wednesday evening in south Phoenix, The Arizona Republic reported.

Two of the officers were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, where one was pronounced dead, the newspaper said. The third wounded officer was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center, also in Phoenix.

Police said one suspect was dead and two others were being sought, the newspaper reported.
