At least three other firefighters were injured, though none seriously. None of the home's occupants were injured.

Flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived, NECN said.

"The other firefighters we believe heard two maydays," Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said. "And when they responded, they found the two firefighters who were overcome by whatever overcame them. And the matter's going to be investigated by the state fire marshal here on scene."
