JACKSON HOLE, Wyo., July 22 (UPI) -- Rescuers said they would resume their search at dawn Thursday for a climber who got caught in a lightning storm in Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park.
The missing climber was among 17 climbers who were injured by lightning while climbing near the top of the 13,770-foot Grant Teton, the Jackson Hole (Wyo.) News & Guide reported.
Grant Teton National Park Rangers used two helicopters to rescue 16 of the climbers Wednesday but had to call off the search for the 17th climber because of darkness.
Park officials have not released the name of the missing climber but spokeswoman Jackie Skaggs said he was one of a party of eight climbing the mountain's easiest route.
Skaggs said he went over a cliff and rescuers lost sight of him.
"I don't know what made him go down, the concussion (from lightning) or a lightning strike," Skaggs said.
