AICHI, Japan, July 20 (UPI) -- A federal grand jury in New York subpoenaed Toyota Motor Corp. in Aichi, Japan, for documents related to steering relay rods, company officials said.

A company spokesman said the grand jury didn't specify the models or production years in the subpoena issued last month, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The subpoena is different from those in February that concerned unintended acceleration and braking system problems, the spokeswoman said.

In 2005, Toyota recalled nearly 1 million pickup trucks in the United States to replace steering relay rods, following a recall of pickup trucks in Japan after a broken steering linkage caused injuries.

In a statement, Toyota said it will cooperate with the investigation.

Toyota already faces a grand jury investigation and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission into the acceleration and brake issues, although it hasn't been charged.
