Plea deal possible in drug case

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 20 (UPI) -- A plea deal may be in the works in the prescription drug-trafficking case against a Florida man whose daughter is missing, an attorney says.

Robert Fields, the attorney for Ronald Cummings co-defendant Misty Croslin, says Cummings has offered to plead to three counts if two others are dropped, the (Jacksonville) Florida Times-Union reported Tuesday.

Field says if that occurs, he expects Cummings to testify against his client.

Cummings' attorney Terry Shoemaker has not said whether testimony against Croslin would be part of the deal.

Cummings daughter Haleigh was 5-years-old when she disappeared in February of 2009.

Misty Croslin, who was Cummings girlfriend, was watching Haleigh in the family's mobile home when the child went missing.

Croslin later married and then divorced Cummings.

Putnam County Sheriff's detectives have used the drug case to probe Haleigh's disappearance.
