SEATTLE, July 17 (UPI) -- A convicted drug trafficker on probation in Washington state has been returned to prison for violations that include possession of animal sex tapes.
Douglas Spink, 39, must spend three more years behind bars, followed by another period on probation, The Seattle Times reported. Spink "had blatantly done everything possible" to get around the conditions of his probation," U.S. District Judge Ricardo Martinez said Friday.
"You have used what everyone says is your substantial intelligence in order to find a way to get around the rules," Martinez said.
Spinks came to the attention of officials in Washington after law enforcement agents in Tennessee told his probation officer he was in touch with a man charged with bestiality there. His property in Whatcom County on the border with British Columbia was searched, and agents found dogs, horses, mice and a tape of a British national having sex with the dogs.
The British man was convicted of animal cruelty and given a short jail term. Whatcom County declined to prosecute Spink, deferring to federal authorities, but Martinez found he had violated his probation by traveling to other states, lying to his probation officer and breaking state laws.
