Corrections officer charged with killlings

MINEOLA, N.Y., June 16 (UPI) -- A New York corrections officer allegedly killed two people early Wednesday in a spree authorities say began as a domestic dispute with her lesbian partner.

Kim Wolfe, 43, a corrections officer for Nassau County, allegedly shot Stacie Williams, 45, outside Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow at about 1:30 a.m., the New York Post reported. Williams' son was injured by a car as he raced across the street to his mother.

Hospital officials said Williams, a maternity nurse, was shot during a "domestic dispute." Police have refused to speculate on Wolfe's motives.

Wolfe allegedly killed her uncle, 56, and shot and wounded her 88-year-old grandfather at their home in Hempstead a short time later. Police said she kidnapped a 23-year-old niece and drove around with her for several hours before she was stopped and taken into custody.

A neighbor said he had never seen signs of trouble between Wolfe and her family.

"She was a nice girl, very competitive," he said. "She's quiet, stayed to herself. She wasn't insane."
