Kilpatrick sister facing home foreclosure

DETROIT, June 4 (UPI) -- The sister of imprisoned former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick could lose her home to foreclosure, a legal notice says.

The notice in the Detroit Legal News says Ayann Kilpatrick is in default on an almost $219,000 mortgage on the home in Detroit's west side, the Detroit Free Press reported Friday.

Kilpatrick is listed as president of the Kilpatrick Civic Fund, a non-profit group being looked at for alleged questionable spending. In April more than $220,000 in funding the group reported remained unaccounted for, the Free Press said.

Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced to at least 14 months in state prison last month for a probation violation stemming from the perjury and obstruction of justice charges that forced him from office, the newspaper said.

Supporters say they'll mark his 40th birthday Tuesday with a prayer rally in Detroit expected to feature appearances by the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan.

"If anybody needs prayer," the Rev. Jim Holley, pastor of the Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church, said, "it would be him and his family."
