SEATTLE, May 21 (UPI) -- A Canadian man known as the "Prince of Pot" has agreed to plead guilty in Seattle to a charge stemming from his marijuana seed business, his lawyer said.
Marc Emery, 52, of Vancouver, British Columbia, made his first U.S. District Court appearance Thursday on charges of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, conspiracy to distribute marijuana seeds and conspiracy to engage in money laundering, The Seattle Times reported Friday.
Prosecutors said Emery had been selling marijuana seeds through the Internet since 1994.
Richard Troberman, Emery's attorney, said his client has agreed to plead guilty Monday to conspiracy to distribute marijuana in exchange for a five-year prison sentence.
The Times said several people were outside the courthouse Thursday protesting Emery's prosecution and the war on drugs.
