LANCASTER, Pa., May 20 (UPI) -- Prosecutors say a Pennsylvania man admitted giving his 4-year-old daughter a fatal dose of prescription drugs last month.
Brian Moskal, 30, of Denver, Pa., was charged with criminal homicide this week in the death of his daughter, Alexandrea, from an overdose of Methadone and Xanax.
Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman said Moskal had prescriptions for the medications for himself but admitted he gave them to his child the night of April 17. Xanax is a potent anti-anxiety medication. Methadone is used to wean people off heroin.
The reason Moskal gave Alexandra the pills remained unclear Thursday. The Intelligencer Journal in Lancaster said investigators were still talking to the other people who were in the house at the time.
In an added twist, WGAL-TV, Lancaster, reported Moskal was taken from jail to a hospital Wednesday night in critical condition. The nature of the emergency was not revealed by the hospital.
