LOS ANGELES, May 10 (UPI) -- A teenager is in stable condition after accidentally becoming impaled on a javelin in a Pomona, Calif., park, officials say.
A group of teenage boys spotted a javelin in bushes at the Westmont Park Community Center Sunday. One of the boys ran around the corner of a building and accidentally ran into the javelin, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, reported Monday.

The 15-year-old victim, who was stuck in the right side, fell to his knees, called for help and pulled the spear out, a witness said.
Los Angeles County Paramedics arrived on scene to treat the boy, who appeared to be in shock, and transported him to a local hospital where he was reported in stable condition, KTLA said.
