Authorities said Stott-Smith told them she pushed the children off Portland's Sellwood Bridge into the Willamette River May 23 to get back at Jason Smith, her estranged husband who had custody of their children and she thought was having an affair with a family friend, The Oregonian said. The boy, Eldon Jay Rebhan Smith, died, but his sister, now 8, survived and is living with her father.

Stott-Smith is to be sentenced to life in prison April 22 for the aggravated murder and attempted murder convictions. Under the plea deal, she is to serve at least 35 years behind bars.
