Neo-Nazi sentenced for threats

ROANOKE, Va., April 14 (UPI) -- A Virginia neo-Nazi group's leader was sentenced to 30 months in prison for threatening people on his Web site, by e-mail and telephone calls, officials say.

William A. White, 32, of Roanoke, received a term at the upper end of federal sentencing guidelines determined by U.S. District Judge James Turk, The Roanoke Times reported Wednesday.

The judge said he based the sentence on the level of fear White instilled in many of his victims.

When White gets out of prison, Turk told him, "You can have any thoughts that you want to have, but you ought to keep them to yourself."

"I hope this will teach you a lesson, I really do," the judge told White, who declined a chance to speak.

White was convicted in December of threatening people in Missouri, Delaware and Virginia Beach, using his Web site, e-mail and telephone to harass and threaten his victims -- strangers to him and to one another -- who unknowingly said or did something to anger the neo-Nazi activist, the Times reported.
