Family tragedy: 4 shot to death, 2 wounded

CHICAGO, April 14 (UPI) -- A woman and three children were shot to death and two others were wounded early Wednesday at a home in Chicago's Marquette Park neighborhood, police said.

City police took a suspect who was on foot into custody a few miles away and a weapon was recovered from a nearby car, Chicago's WBBM-TV reported. Police sources told the TV station the 32-year-old suspect was the husband of the 19-year-old pregnant woman.

WBBM-TV reported family members identified those killed as the suspect's 7-month-old son, Jahad Larry; the suspect's niece, 3-year-old Keleasha Larry; a woman believed to be the suspect's wife, 19-year-old Tawanda Thompson; and the suspect's niece, 16-year-old Keyshai Fields.

Hospitalized in critical condition were Keyshai's brother, Demond Larry, 13, and the suspect's mother, Leona Larry, 57.

Two others in the house escaped harm -- Lala, 12, another niece of the suspect, and her 7-month-old brother Prayvion. Lala ran to a service station to call police.

The TV station said family members also said the suspect was visiting from Madison, Wis. It wasn't known what may have triggered the rampage.

"He just went crazy. He shot everybody in the house," said Ella Smith, an aunt of one of the victims.

Letisha Larry, a sister of the suspect who lives in Wisconsin, said he snapped in recent days and had been talking about how "Allah wanted him to kill people."
