CHICAGO, April 9 (UPI) -- A Chicago-area family has sued a towing company, saying a driver hooked up their pickup truck while their daughter, recovering from surgery, was still inside.
In the lawsuit filed Thursday in Cook County, the family of Yessina Cruz said her stitches were torn out when she jumped out of the pickup while it was being pulled by the tow truck. The family wants damages of at least $50,000 from Tuff Car Co., the Cicero-based tow truck operator.
In court papers, Yessina's father, Juan Rodriguez of Cicero, said he had just brought her home from the hospital, where her appendix had been removed. Because she was feeling uncomfortable, he left her resting in the back seat of his Ford F-150 truck.
The family says Yessina required more hospitalization because of injuries she sustained falling from the back seat of the truck as she tried to get out.
