N.J. teens vandalize water reservoir

MAHWAH, N.J., April 8 (UPI) -- Two teenagers were charged with criminal mischief and defiant trespass for allegedly vandalizing a New Jersey water reservoir, court records showed.

Eric Michael, 19, and Christopher Vivona, 18, were accused Wednesday of tampering with valves at Mahwah's MacMillan Reservoir, The (Newark) Star-Ledger reported.

The alleged actions of the two caused approximately 15 million gallons of water to be released under a dam and flow into an adjoining stream, the newspaper said.

Neither of the teens was represented by an attorney. Michael pleaded not guilty, but when Vivona tried to speak, the judge interrupted him and entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
