Police made 54 arrests after young adults roamed through the Times Square area Sunday night into early Monday, storming businesses and harassing pedestrians.

Hundreds of youths surged through the streets hooting, milling about and throwing punches, the Times reports.

Still under investigation are the shootings of a man in the ankle and a woman who was hit with BB-gun pellets.

More than 30 people arrested during the night were arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court Tuesday.

Prosecutors said they departed from customary procedures and declined to offer dismissal agreements to those accused of minor infractions.
