Guilty plea expected in artifacts case

SALT LAKE CITY, April 1 (UPI) -- Another of the 26 people indicted in Utah for illegal trafficking in prehistoric tribal artifacts is expected to plead guilty, court papers indicate.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported Wednesday a court filing shows an April 23 plea-change hearing has been set before a federal magistrate for Dale Lyman, 76, of Blanding. He may plead guilty to three felonies stemming from the possession and sale of artifacts taken from public and tribal lands in San Juan County, the newspaper said.

He would be the sixth defendant to plead guilty in the case.

Last summer's indictments followed a 2 1/2-year FBI investigation.
